The Arts - A Vision for Creativity
Enriching Lives
Tintagel Primary School is dedicated to enriching lives and the arts do much to achieve this for all children - whatever their background and ability. The Arts provoke thought, stimulate minds, challenge identity, broaden horizons, evoke feelings and captivate us with experiences that transcend everyday life. These experiences are both unique and personal but can also move and inspire others. We believe they can happen in a variety of places both within and beyond the school; they have the power to transform lives.
In our commitment to providing an inspirational learning environment which promotes creativity, we aim to immerse our learners in memorable learning experiences. The whole staff embrace the arts as an integral part of this process and as a means to enriching the curriculum. We aim to ensure that all children experience and develop knowledge and skills in a range of art forms under the broad headings of:
Literature - poetry, fiction, drama and storytelling
Performing Arts - music, dance, drama and storytelling
Visual Arts - craft, design, painting, sculpture, textiles and printmaking
Arts expressed through the use of multi-media - photography and digital arts
Art is developed by teaching through specific subjects discretely, through cross-curricular links, extra-curricular opportunities and whole school events both on and off-site. Children experience the arts through use of specialist advisors and artists, visits to art establishments and arts competitions and events.
