Class 1

In our mixed-age classroom of Foundation Stage, Year 1, and Year 2 children, pupils learn what it truly means to belong to our school community - the Tribe of Tintagel. Here, they are supported in becoming what we call Learning Warriors - curious, courageous, and kind learners. Learning Warriors use our whole-school Learning Toolkit - eight essential skills and qualities that empower them to challenge themselves and explore the world with curiosity and confidence. In Sycamore Class, we believe these qualities are the foundation of effective, independent lifelong learning, equipping children with skills they can carry through school and beyond. 

Our dedicated staff work hard to create a rich and engaging learning environment, offering every child a carefully designed series of experiences that encourage play, exploration, and the development of fundamental skills. These experiences bridge the Early Years curriculum with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, ensuring a seamless and supportive transition. Alongside structured, adult-led learning, children's interests play a key role in shaping our learning journey throughout the year. 

Each term, the whole school embarks on an Enquiry Value - a Big Question designed to spark curiosity and inspire discovery. In Sycamore Class, we carefully adapt these values to meet the needs of our children, drawing on their natural sense of wonder. As part of our Tribe, we love to explore, ask questions, and deepen our understanding of the world around us.
